Thanks to everyone who came out to Oktoberfest this year!

Even though it was cold, there is nothing like a bunch of amazing chili to keep us all warm.

We especially want to thank everyone who particiated in the Oktoberfest 2012 Soup Chili Cook Off. Also, a special thanks goes out to the judges of the contest.

Contest Winners

• 1st was Freeport State Bank who won $100.00 Freeport Chamber Bucks
• 2nd was Wobegon Fabric and Quilting Supplies who received $50.00 Freeport Chamber Bucks
• 3rd was Grandpa and the spicy girls who got the $25.00 Freeport Chamber Bucks prize

All three of them received Engraved Wooden Spoons donated by The Peripheral Vision.

Oktoberfest 2012 Soup Chili Cook Off

Cooking Rules

1. Entries are to be stew or soup based. No casseroles, fried or baked dishes will be allowed.
2. All cooking supplies and ingredients are to be supplied by each cooking team including a generator and extension cords.
3. Large tent to be provided by Chamber.
4. Basic health codes for event cooking shall be followed during preparation and distribution of samples. It will be the responsibility of each team captain to maintain a healthy food-safe environment as possible throughout the event.
5. Each team is to make a minimum of 12 gts. ( 3 gal.) of their entree.
6. Serving time is from 12:30 p.m. – 1 :30 p.m. for public sampling or until gone.
7. Cooking area must be in open view to the public and tidy at all times.
8. Soup / Chili can be cooked ahead of time and brought to the event.
9. Park outside the Oktoberfest area.
10. Cookers be ready to serve by 12:15pm.

TEAM GUIDE LINES

1. Teams / individuals must pre-register in order to enter the contest; the entry form must be received no later than Friday, September 28th, 2012. Space is limited, so register early.
2. Each team is to have a team name.
3. Contestants are responsible for supplying all of their own cooking utensils, generator, extension cords and etc.
4. Each team is to supply their own water for cleaning purposes.
5. Means of heating shall be a Coleman type cook stove, propane cook top, grill or crock pot. No charcoal or wood burning grills.
6. Team is to decorate their booth with an Oktoberfest theme.
7. Teams will be permitted to set up their equipment, decorations and cooking areas anytime after 11:00am on Sat. Oct. 6st, 2012. Loading and unloading will only be allowed in designated area.
8. Oktoberfest will not furnish any tables, chairs, or other supplies. All supplies are the responsibility of the contestants.
9. No team shall sell any samples or any other items directly to the public. Sampling bowls will be sold by Oktoberfest staff only.
10. No vehicles, trailers or pull behind cookers will be allowed to travel into or be staged as part of any teams cooking area.
11. Each team will have an 8x8 cooking area.
12. It will be the responsibility of each team to clean up their cooking site at the end of the event. Trash receptacles will be provided by Oktoberfest.
13. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES – No team will be allowed to bring alcohol onto Oktoberfest grounds.

Oktoberfest Judging

1. Judging will be based on taste, service and theme / booth decorations.
2. Each person purchasing a bowl will receive a form for them to judge your entree.
3. The judging forms will be collected throughout the event. Winning teams will be announced at the Polka Mass and will be posted on the Freeport Chamber Website.
4. The team with the highest score will receive $100 in Freeport Chamber Bucks, second place $ 50.00 in Freeport Chamber Bucks and third place $ 25.00 in Freeport Chamber Bucks.

The American Patriot Program, or TAPP, has announced that the American Patriot Program Honor Event for Minnesota combat wounded SSG Mike Mills, USA is set for Tuesday November 3rd at 6:30 pm to approximately 8:30 pm at the Community Center in Freeport, MN.

If you have a soup recipe unrivaled to non, enter it into the Freeport Oktoberfest's Soup/Chili Cook-Off on Saturday October 3rd, 2009. This event is sponsored by the Freeport Chamber of Commerce.
