A regular meeting of the Freeport City Council was convened at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Matt Worms with Council Members Dave Humbert, Charles Balderston, Joe Hennen, and Tim Hennen also in attendance.

Also in attendance were the following: Herman Lensing, Brian Brix, Mike and Abby Cunningham, April Bieljeski, Scott Lange, Sarah Welle, Cindy Heinen, Mike Cunningham, Mary Hetland, Kathy Welle, Mary Wilwerding, and Father Roger Klassen.

Staff persons on hand were Paul Hetland, Keith Koehler, and John Gilk.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said by those in attendance.

Children from Sacred Heart School representing all of the school children and kids in the community brought forward a large thank you card signed by all of the students in appreciation of Northside Park. Kathy Welle and Father Roger Klassen also conveyed their appreciation for the project and noted that the Park is frequently used by non-students and is a great example of the community working well together. Mayor Worms accepted the card and also thanked those involved in the project on behalf of the City of Freeport.

Freeport has an opening for a part-time, permanent administrative assistant. This position assists the City Clerk in the overall administration of city services to assure compliance with the city’s policies, goals, and programs; manages and coordinates special projects; assists with the economic development projects; and performs general office tasks as assigned by the City Clerk. Basic office machine and Microsoft Office software experience is required. Experience in governmental affairs preferred. Prior work history as an administrative assistant/secretary highly desired. Wage is $8.50 to $11.00 per hour, dependent upon qualifications. The work week is approximately 30 hours per week, 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. No benefits are provided.
