Project Updates

Water Main Looping:

The contractor has finished all work associated with the water main looping portion of the project except for the final layer of pavement on 2nd Avenue and 3rd Street. This is expected to be completed in late May or early June.

County Road 11:

Work on County Road 11 is also nearing completion for the year. Before winter, we expect the contractor to complete placement of topsoil and seed behind the curb. The County will be replacing the asphalt near the I‐94 bridge and placing the final layer of pavement on the remainder of the county road in the spring.

Water Tower:

The foundation for the water tower has been completed. Construction on the steel structure will begin in late October and be complete before January. The tower will be painted as soon as temperatures allow in the spring.

New Water Meters

Council approved installation of new water meters for all residential and commercial properties throughout the city. Installation will begin in late October. Property owners can expect contractors to be in contact to schedule installation of the new meters.

Winter Parking Rules

To ensure snow plowing can be completed in a timely manner there is no parking allowed from November 1st through March 31st between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. during or after any snow fall which accumulates over one‐tenth (1/10) of an inch of snow until such time as the snow removal crews have cleared the public street, alley, or way, or municipal parking lot.

Water Billing Changes

Just a reminder that due to the new water tower and improvements that are being made you will see rate changes starting January 2012. Along with rate changes, the city will also change the billing cycle from quarterly to monthly.

Leaf Pick Up

Danny’s Disposal will be picking up your bagged leaves and yard waste on Saturday, October 29. Please have leaves and yard waste in an unenclosed bag by the street before 8:00 A.M. Please do not blow or rake grass clippings or leaves into the street. There are many good and practical reasons not to.
